NASSA Database Search Site
The North American Shetland Sheepbreeders Association (NASSA) provides a registry of purebred Shetland sheep for the US and Canada. Their registry database contains over 20,000 sheep records. This website uses a copy of the NASSA registry database and provides searching and browsing features for the sheep records. A Pedigree (family tree) page as well as a Progeny (offspring) page are provided and can be viewed for any sheep in the database.
Here are some of the features of the NASSA Search Site:
- Complex search functionality for finding specific sheep using a number of criteria (e.g., sheep registration #, name, breeder #, sheep color, sheep gender, and sheep age.) Search results are user configurable (which columns to show and how many rows per page) and sortable by column.
- Pedigrees are 5-generations and are hyperlinked such that you can click any sheep in the pedigree and go to a new pedigree for that sheep. This way you can work your way back through the family tree all the way to where the registry started.
- Each Pedigree page has a link to a Progeny page (if the sheep has any registered progeny.) Progeny pages are also hyperlinked to pedigrees for each sheep in the report.
