Artist Special Details:
Complete Web Site for just $350

$350 covers the development of your Web Site and the first year of Domain Name registration and web site hosting. Please read the following carefully for complete details. If you have any questions about the Artist Special, please contact us.

Domain Name Registration

• We will register the Domain Name that you choose (assuming that it is available) for you when we set up your web site.
• Our fee for Domain Name Registration is $10 per year. First year is included in the package price.
• We will renew your Domain Name Registration for you each year as long as you wish to continue your Artist Special package (included in our annual renewal fee -- see below.)
• You will own your Domain Name (you will be the registrant) and we will be your Administrative and Technical Contacts.

Email Accounts

• Your package includes up to 5 email accounts at your domain (e.g., artist@yourname.com)
• Each of your email addresses can be forwarded to another address if desired (e.g., you could automatically forward to an existing email account that you have.)
• "Webmail" access is provided. You can access your mail (send and receive) from any internet connected computer.

Professional Web Site Hosting

• We will setup a web hosting account for your domain when we set up your web site. We will manage this hosting account for you.
• Our fee for web site hosting is $120 per year. First year is included in the package price.
• You will be allotted 100 MB of storage on the web server for your web site. If you need more space (which is unlikely) we can sell you more at a cost of $15 per year for each additional 100 MB.
• We will renew your hosting service each year as long as you wish to continue your Artist Special package (included in our annual renewal fee -- see below.)

Annual Renewal Fee

• Our Annual Renewal Fee for the Artist Special package is $130. This covers your domain name registration and your web site hosting service as well as a license to use the web page software that we developed for you.
• We will notify you about one month before your service expires, and you will need to pay the renewal fee before expiration to continue the package. If you choose not to renew, then we will let your Domain Name Registration expire, and we will cancel your web site hosting plan after the current year expires. Also, your web pages will be deleted. You can download the HTML code and pictures from your web site before your plan expires if you want. Note however, that some of your pages (like the Gallery pages) will not work as static HTML (without some modification), since they are dynamic PHP pages.
• We reserve the right to change our Annual Renewal Fee (we will give you plenty of notice if we plan a fee change.)

Pages Included in the Artist Special Web Site:

Home Page

• Your home page should provide a brief introduction to yourself and your art and can include up to 3 pictures.

Gallery Pages

• Your Gallery will showcase your art by displaying a number of small pictures in a row with one larger picture above. Visitors to your site can click on one of the small pictures to 'move' it to the large picture above. If you have more than about 6 to 8 pieces in your Gallery, then 'previous' and 'next' links will allow your site visitors to browse through multiple 'pages' of your Gallery.
• When a visitor clicks on the large picture in the Gallery, it will take them to a 'Details' page for that piece that will show a full size picture and any textual information that you have provided for that piece.
• Please look at this example Gallery page to see how this works.
• The pictures and textual info for each piece in your Gallery can be modified by you using the Admin area described below. This allows you to update your Gallery anytime you like.
• The total number of items in your Gallery is limited by the disk space allotted to your hosting account (or a maximum of 9999 items.) As an example, if your average item has a 100 KB picture file, then 100 pictures would use 10 MB of disk storage. Since your Artist Special comes with 100 MB of disk storage, you can easily have hundreds of pictures in your Gallery. Note that there is some storage overhead associated with the Gallery pictures, and the rest of your web site uses space also.

Artist Info Page

• Your Artist Info (or Bio) page should tell your story, including your education, shows, awards, interests and the goals you have for your art. This page can include up to 3 photos.

Contact Page

• Your Contact Page should provide your visitors with easy means to contact you. We suggest that you provide your address, phone, and email. You may not want to show your email address, if you are concerned with SPAM (see next bullet.)
• Included on your Contact Page is a web form that your visitors can fill in and submit to you. This form will automatically send you the message (that the visitor submitted) to your email address. Your actual email address will not be visible in the form (or in the HTML source code.) Your contact form will include a "spam resistant" feature that requires the visitor to type in a 4-digit code that is shown on the form in order to submit it. This prevents 'spamming scripts' from being able to submit your contact form. Please take a look at this example contact page to see how this form looks.

Optional Page

• Your Optional Page can be almost anything you want (up to 3 photos.) Some suggestions are:
• Map/Directions so visitors can easily find your studio.
• Links to other sites that you like, or that are related to your work.
• Schedule of shows that you will be at.
• If you like, we can make your Optional Page "secret" by not showing links to that page. You could then give out the URL for this page only to friends, associates, or potential customers. You might want to do this if you want to keep your Street Address and map/directions more private, for example. Note that you will need to make sure that no one that links to your secret page (from their own web site, for example) in order to keep it secret (otherwise, the search engine robots will find and index your secret page.)

Admin Page(s)

• Login and Logout pages. You will be assigned a login name and password that will allow only you to use your Admin Pages. There will be an automated "Forgotten Password" feature that you can use to reset your password if needed. This will rely on your email address being current, valid, and working, since it will automatically email you a new password.
• A Manage Gallery Page will let you add/edit/delete your Gallery items. The Manage Gallery Page works in conjunction with a few other pages that support adding/editing the textual info of your Gallery items, and uploading new picture files to the web server. Picture files must be in JPEG format (normally a .jpg file) and will be limited to 200K file size in order to limit the upload time. Pictures that you upload to your Gallery will be automatically resized to fit the format of the Gallery pages.
• If you are unable to upload your own pictures, then we can provide additional services such as scanning your photos or prints, converting your picture file formats, resizing/cropping and image processing (lightening/darkening etc.) at our Standard Hourly Rate (see below.)

Header and Footer

• Each page of your site will have a uniform header and footer. Your header can include your logo and name and a small picture if desired. Your header will have the navigation links to all pages of your site.

Development Process for the Artist Special Web Site:

Getting Started

• When you are ready to get your own Artist Special Web Site, let us know and we will send you the basic contract for you to review, sign, and return. This contract is basically the information from this Document (Artist Special Details) detailing exactly what you are paying for.
• If you want to deviate from the standard Artist Special package (e.g., extra pages or extra pictures), then your package price will be adjusted accordingly (see Changes and Enhancements below.)
• Next, you must make a 50% down payment ($175 for the standard package) before we start actual work on your site. We accept check, money order, VISA, and MasterCard.
• You must provide us with your desired Domain Name. You should provide a prioritized list of several choices, in case your 1st choice is already taken. We will then register your Domain Name for you and setup a hosting account for your site. Note, if you already have a registered Domain Name, then you will be able to transfer hosting of that Domain Name to our new hosting account if you like. If you do this, we will deduct the $10 Domain Name registration fee from your package price (and your renewal fee.) In this case, you will be responsible for maintaining registration of your Domain Name.

What We Need From You During Development

• You can provide us with input on a color scheme and font style for your site. If you prefer, we will come up with these for you and you can review them and provide feedback.
• If you already have a logo, we can incorporate it into the page header for your site. You can provide it as a picture file, or on paper to be scanned. If you don't have a logo, we can create a simple textual logo for you.
• You will need to provide us with all of the pictures that you want on your non-Gallery pages. We can put in placeholders for you if you don't have them ready yet. We prefer to get your pictures in JPEG format, but can accept other formats or prints (that we will scan.)
• You will need to provide us with the text that you want to see on all of your non-Gallery pages. Electronic version (text email, Microsoft Word, etc.) is preferred, but we can accept paper documents.
• For your Gallery, you should provide us with the information for at least a few of your Gallery items. You can always add more (or edit/delete) later. For each item, we need a picture (JPEG file preferred) and the text (item name, description, price, etc.) to go along with it.
• Next we will develop your initial web site. This usually takes about a week, assuming you have provided everything above.
• When your initial site is ready for you to review, we will inform you and you can check it out and provide us your feedback. We will attempt to make all changes that you suggest (within reason), but we only allow a total of 2 hours work on these changes. If you want more substantial changes, then we will need to negotiate an additional fee for the estimated effort.
• When you have reviewed any changes that we made after your initial review, we will be ready to announce your new site! You will then be expected to pay the remaining balance of the package price.

Changes, Enhancements, Etc.

• Our Standard Hourly Rate for changes etc. is $25 / hour. Minimum charge for any change is $25. (This is a special rate for Artists and we reserve the right to change this rate without prior notice.)
• Our special fee for additional pages of the Artist Special Web Site is $25 per page (static pages only.) If you want additional Gallery functionality or features, we can do these at our Standard Hourly Rate. (This is a special rate for Artists and we reserve the right to change this rate without prior notice.)
• If you would like to make changes from the standard Artist Special package (for example, additional pages or pictures) we can do this for you at any time during development or after completion of your initial site at the rates described above.
• If you are interested in major enhancements (for example, an online store) please contact us with your requirements and we will be happy to write up a proposal and quote. If you want to add database functionality (for example, ability to search and sort on your gallery; or to categorize your gallery) we can support this too. Note that the annual hosting fee will be increased if you need a database for your enhanced web site. Contact us for details or if you have questions.
